Hi, Im Makenzie some call me Kenzie. Im a Dallas based wedding and elopement photographer capturing emotional, documentary style moments on digital and super 8 film. I travel across the u.s. documenting intentional , experience driven wedding days, and this blog is here to help you plan an elopement that feels true to you.

Some wedding venues are chosen because they’re beautiful.
Others become unforgettable because of the memories they’ve already held for years.
Macie and Dade’s wedding wasn’t just another beautiful wedding in Sandpoint, Idaho. It was a celebration built around family, friendship, and creating an unforgettable experience for every single guest.
Held on private property owned by close family friends, this wasn’t simply a wedding venue. It was a place already filled with years of memories before they ever exchanged vows.
When they were offered the opportunity to get married there, saying yes was easy.
Everything that followed reflected exactly who they are as a couple.
Rather than following traditions simply because “that’s what weddings do,” they created a celebration that felt warm, relaxed, welcoming, and completely personal.
As both their photographer and videographer, I had the opportunity to witness every part of the day unfold. From the quiet moments while everyone got ready to one of the most entertaining receptions I’ve photographed.
There is something incredibly meaningful about getting married somewhere that already feels like home.
Private property weddings allow couples the freedom to create a celebration that’s entirely their own without being limited by the schedule or rules of a traditional venue.
For Macie and Dade, this property already held memories, making every part of the day feel even more personal.
Instead of decorating a venue to feel like them, they celebrated somewhere that already reflected their story.

The morning began with laughter, excitement, and the quiet anticipation that always fills the room before a wedding.
One of the biggest reasons the morning flowed so effortlessly was Joanie Wegman of J Amelia’s Salon & Makeup Studio.
She kept every bridesmaid and the bride on schedule throughout hair and makeup while making sure each person enjoyed the experience instead of feeling rushed.
When it came to Macie’s bridal look, Joanie enhanced her natural beauty instead of covering it.
Her hair and makeup felt timeless, elegant, and completely true to who she is.
As a photographer, I always notice how makeup photographs throughout the day, and Macie’s looked just as beautiful in every photograph as it did in person.

One of the first details that caught my attention was the floral design created by Pearl & Tin.
The bouquets were honestly even more beautiful than any of us expected.
Every flower was thoughtfully placed.
Each bouquet felt unique while still complementing one another perfectly.
The colors, textures, and attention to detail tied the entire wedding together beautifully.
Florals become part of almost every wedding photograph, from portraits to, the ceremony, and reception details.
Pearl & Tin created arrangements that elevated every moment of the day.

One of the biggest challenges with private property weddings is transforming an open space into a beautiful reception.
All About Weddings Event & Party Rentals completely transformed the property.
From the elegant tent to the tables, chairs, and reception rentals, every detail felt intentional and welcoming.
Everything was thoughtfully arranged to create a reception that felt polished without taking away from the natural beauty of the property.

I’ll be honest.
When someone says “portable bathrooms,” most people imagine something very different than what guests experienced here.
Tiaz Custom Cubes completely changed that expectation.
Their luxury portable restrooms were spacious, beautifully maintained, air conditioned, and even had music playing inside.
They honestly felt more like walking into an upscale venue restroom than a portable restroom.
It may seem like a small detail, but thoughtful touches like this make such a huge difference for guests attending an outdoor wedding.
One of the biggest guest favorites of the evening came from Cascadia Pizza Co.
Fresh wood-fired pizzas were cooked throughout the reception, filling the property with incredible aromas while giving everyone something delicious to gather around.
Rather than rushing through dinner, guests lingered, visited with one another, and enjoyed every slice.
It created such a warm, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly reflected Macie and Dade’s personalities.
P.S. I might have even taken a full pizza back with me for the road…
The bride offered first of course.

One of the most unique parts of the reception was Cameron Brow.
Instead of performing one large show, he moved from table to table performing close-up magic and sleight-of-hand for every group of guests.
Each performance was different.
Every table experienced something unique.
Wherever he went, laughter quickly followed.
Guests spent the rest of the evening trying to figure out how he performed each trick while completely embracing the joy and wonder that magic brings.
It was one of those unexpected experiences that made this wedding unlike any other.

As the sun disappeared behind the trees, the celebration shifted into an unforgettable reception.
Kyle Dorscher of Dark Star Entertainment kept the energy high from beginning to end.
Every announcement happened exactly when it needed to.
The music reflected Macie and Dade’s personalities perfectly.
Each important song—from the first dances to the final song of the evening—was played at exactly the right moment.
Most importantly, the dance floor stayed full all night.
Watching guests of every age dancing together was the perfect ending to an already incredible celebration.
What stood out most wasn’t just one detail.
It was how every vendor worked together to create an unforgettable experience.
Nothing felt rushed.
Nothing felt forced.
Every decision reflected who Macie and Dade are.
The result was a wedding that didn’t just look beautiful.
It felt beautiful.
If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding in Sandpoint or anywhere in North Idaho, don’t overlook the beauty and flexibility of a private property wedding.
With the right team of vendors, you can create an experience that’s every bit as beautiful as a traditional venue while making it completely your own.
As a destination wedding photographer and videographer, I love helping couples tell their story in places that already hold meaning to them.
Whether you’re planning a private estate wedding, a mountain celebration, or a lakeside ceremony, my goal is to preserve your day in a way that allows you to relive not only what it looked like, but exactly how it felt.
If you’re planning a wedding in Sandpoint, Idaho, I’d love to hear your story.
This incredible wedding came together thanks to an amazing team of local wedding professionals:
As the evening came to a close, the dance floor was still full, guests were still laughing over the magic they had witnessed, and the smell of wood-fired pizza lingered in the air. Looking around, it was obvious this wasn’t just a beautiful wedding, it was a day that felt completely and unapologetically like Macie and Dade.
From the meaningful private property where they exchanged their vows to the incredible team of local vendors who brought every detail to life, every part of their wedding reflected the life they’ve built together and the people who mean the most to them.
As a photographer and videographer, these are the weddings I’ll never forget. The ones where every detail has a purpose, every conversation feels genuine, and every photograph tells a small piece of a much bigger story.
Macie and Dade, thank you for trusting me to preserve one of the most important days of your lives. It was an honor to witness your love, your families, and the community you’ve built around you. I hope every time you look back through your gallery or watch your wedding film, you’re reminded not only of what your wedding day looked like, but exactly how it felt.
I wish you both a lifetime of adventure, laughter, and a marriage that’s just as beautiful as the day you celebrated it.

If you’re dreaming of an intimate wedding in Sandpoint, a private property celebration surrounded by North Idaho’s beautiful forests, or a destination wedding anywhere your story takes you, I’d love to help you preserve it.
My approach is centered around documenting genuine moments—the quiet glances, joyful celebrations, and all the little memories that often become the most meaningful years later. I don’t just want to capture what your wedding looked like. I want to preserve what it felt like.
Whether you’re planning a wedding in Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, Priest Lake, or anywhere across Idaho, or you’re planning a destination wedding in Glacier National Park, Grand Teton, Colorado, Oregon, or beyond, I’d be honored to tell your story.
If you’re ready to start planning, I’d love to hear all about your vision.
