These two wanted photos that felt natural, romantic, and honest to who they are together. Nothing overly posed. Nothing forced. Just running through the fields, sitting in the wildflowers, laughing together, and letting the evening unfold however it wanted to.

And honestly… those always end up being my favorite kind of sessions.

This session took place in an open field surrounded by wildflowers and soft greenery, and once golden hour hit, everything looked straight out of a movie. The sky turned pink and orange, the grass caught the light perfectly, and it created that soft nostalgic feeling I’m always chasing in my work.

The Best Engagement Sessions Always Feel a Little Unscripted

I always tell my couples this before sessions:

You do not have to know how to pose.

The best photos usually happen in between the poses anyway.

The moments where you’re fixing each other’s hair, laughing because you almost tripped in the flowers, holding hands while walking back to the next spot, or just sitting quietly together in the grass… those are the moments that actually feel real years later.

During this session, we kept moving the entire time. We walked through the field, stopped whenever the light looked beautiful, and let things happen naturally instead of trying to make every image feel perfect.

For spring and summer engagement sessions in Texas, I usually recommend starting about 1.5 to 2 hours before sunset so we can capture both the brighter golden light and the softer sunset tones after the sun dips lower.

This session had one of those sunsets where the sky just kept getting prettier every ten minutes.
